Last year, I decided that I would build my faith so much, that I would be worthy of a miraculous healing of my leg. I figured that if I had enough faith, I could be made whole in this life instead of having to wait until the next life. I started trying a variety of oils and remedies, but some resulting in severe irritation of my delicate, skin-grafted skin. In frustration one day, the spirit said, "You can be whole without your leg looking perfect." I would love to have the faith for a miraculous healing physically, but maybe the miraculous healing will be an internal healing-a feeling of wholeness, love, acceptance, and joy.
Wholeness looks different for everyone because each of us have challenges and situations in this mortal life that will leave us scarred and very imperfect. So my new prayer is, "Lord, show me what WHOLE looks like for me." Because of Jesus Christ, we can find joy, peace, and wholeness in this life without perfection. Then someday in the next life, we will get to see what perfection looks like. For now, just feeling hopeful, complete, satisfied, and peaceful can be enough.
