As my husband and I prepare to move our family this summer, I found myself overwhelmed with thoughts of worry and fear one day. I started asking myself, "How will we know that we are following the best career opportunity and that we will find the best house, the best community, the best schools, and the best church ward so that we can be sure our children will be happy and thrive? The thought of finding the best feels like trying to find a needle in a haystack. I didn't have too much time to dwell on those thoughts, when the spirit whispered, "I can make good of a lot of things." I immediately got emotional-not only because I knew that that thought came from the Lord but because that is exactly what I needed to hear. It was truly a tailored answer just for me at the very moment I needed it. This phrase can bring each one of us comfort at different times in our lives. We often find ourselves worrying about choices we have made, choices we need to make, and choices we will make. We fear we have failed and we fear we will fail. We fear that we will fall short and that our efforts will not be enough to get us to where we want. We also worry that a lack of perfection will influence how other people will accept us Being perfect and finding perfect are pretty much hopeless I've decided. But we don't need perfect to have Hope and Love...we just need Jesus! We need Jesus because He can take something that is imperfect and make it wonderful...
if we let Him. Jesus is the one that makes good of our past, our present, and our future. It is a wonderful feeling to know that great things can still come from imperfect people and imperfect circumstances. All we have to do is move our parked cars and go somewhere, and if we trust Him, wherever we travel, will end up being good. Better yet, it will be great! Because... He truly can make good of a lot of things.
