We have all felt that familiar feeling of defeat at one time or another. We have all felt like we were doing all we could do in certain areas, and yet at the same time, not enough. We have so many roles to play and so many areas of our lives to excel in: our jobs and studies, our relationships, our home, our health, our finances, our church callings, etc. How do we stay on top of everything? How do we thrive in all areas and have time for all things? Sometimes as a mother, life gets busy, and I look around and realize that I haven't exercised for quite some time, the laundry has piled up again, and every window, door, wall, baseboard, and trim need to be scrubbed. Not to mention, I am way behind on scrapbooks, and the mini-van needs to be cleaned. Before I go crazy, I realize that I have forgotten to breathe and be still.
James Allen said, "A man becomes calm in the measure that he understands himself as a thought evolved being." When we calm and clear our mind, we can put our thoughts and words in the direction of productivity, success, and order. We can find peace with "a time, a place, and a season for all things." Elder Gary E. Stevenson said, "Heavenly Father can take our simple, daily efforts and turn them into something miraculous." If we can just take a deep breath and realize that as long as we do our best and keep putting forth simple, daily efforts, the Lord will make up the difference and somehow everything will work out. But... We must change our thinking and our emotions. No matter how high the mountain of laundry is, we must not let it bury us in emotions of being overwhelmed. We are bigger than the dirty house, the unfolded laundry, the undone projects, and the needs of our little ones. 3 Affirmations that will change your life: 1. I have time for all things 2. I can do all things through Christ 3. I am calm, peaceful, and content Say these daily, over and over again. I promise you that these words will bring you peace and confidence in your life.
