Have you ever got through something and then looked back and thought, "I don't know how I did that!" We could think of all sorts of situations where this is the case: -making it through an illness -making it through a divorce or death -making it through college - raising kids -remodeling a house, -enduring in a job or a long term task I had a friend that had 4 little children and made a mistake that cost her 7 years in prison! How does someone make it through that?
At age 35, my husband went back to school for almost 2 years to finish his bachelor's degree-something he thought he would never do and didn't know how it was going to happen. We still look back and are amazed that we took that leap of faith to move our family to a college town in an apartment! While he was going to school, I did one of the hardest things I've ever done since being a mom; I got a job to help him through school. I don't know how I did that! How do we find the strength, the time, and the money to do half of what we do?! a·dren·al·ine /əˈdren(ə)lən/ noun a hormone secreted by the adrenal glands, especially in conditions of stress, increasing rates of blood circulation, breathing, and carbohydrate metabolism and preparing muscles for exertion We usually think of adrenaline as a burst of energy and will power to get through a workout, an emergency, a competition, etc. When we recently moved our family to a new house, I stared at the boxes stacked high and did not know how in the world I would make it through all those boxes. Where would I put everything? How many days would it take? At 5:30 A.M. the next day, adrenaline kicked in, and I didn't stop unpacking for 2 days (except for a wink of sleep in the night) In 2 days straight, I had the majority of the boxes unpacked! By the 3rd day, the adrenaline was gone. I was exhausted, and I looked at what I had tackled, and I did not know how I did it! But, I did! I knew that I had been given Godly Adrenaline- the kind of adrenaline that gives us strength to do hard things. It's the adrenaline that gives us courage to do hard things and the emotional stability to make it through doing important things like raising kids, providing for our families, fulfilling church callings, taking care of our homes, making it through hard situations one day at a time. How do we do all the hard things we do? How have we made it through some of the things we have? God prepares our hearts, minds, and muscles for exertion. God is good. He is helping us every day, every step of the way back to Him. We are made to endure. We are made to be strong. We are made to do hard things.
